For decades, the Besòs River was an open sewer. With the construction of treatment plants in the 1990s, water quality improved and life returned. Dolors Vinyoles studies the recovery of fish such as the eel, while Paco Torres studies birds. Xavi Larruy has found otters, but the river remains delicate. Tomás Carrión is working on restoring biodiversity in the Besòs.
